An anniversary stay near York you'll talk about for years
Three adults-only luxury bell tents at Barmby Moor — wood-fired evenings, big Yorkshire skies, and a quiet meadow to yourselves.

There's nothing romantic about a hotel breakfast room. An anniversary deserves better — a fire crackling between just the two of you, a wood-burner glowing through canvas, and a Yorkshire sky that opens up the moment the sun goes down.
Fieldroot Retreat is three luxury bell tents on a small private meadow at Barmby Moor, near York. We're adults-only, no children, no dogs and intentionally small — three tents only, generous spacing, your own firepit per tent. It's the sort of quiet that's hard to find when most "luxury glamping" sites are 30-tent fields full of weekend stag groups.
Chilled prosecco, artisan chocolates, scattered rose petals, tea lights — placed inside your bell tent before check-in. You don't lift a finger. Add at checkout.
A bottle of champagne, hand-tied fresh flowers, fairy-light decoration, artisan chocolates and a personalised message board. For the milestones that deserve it.
Not a shared communal one — your firepit, your circle of chairs, your view of the meadow. Add a Campfire Kit and you're sorted for the evening.
The Vale of York has properly dark night skies once you're east of the city. Lie back, lose the streetlights, and remember what stars actually look like.
All three of our tents are designed for two, but if you're celebrating an anniversary we'd suggest Rowan. Named after the ancient tree of protection, it's the one we'd pick ourselves for a slow weekend — warm timber, a wood-burning stove that lights easily, and a view across the meadow that turns gold at dusk.
Two nights minimum. Any night of the week — we don't force a Fri–Sun pattern.
Romance Package, Grand Celebration, or à la carte (prosecco, flowers, BBQ box, breakfast hamper).
From 1pm. Tent open, fire laid, surprise waiting. Phones optional.
Yes — both the Romance Package and the Grand Celebration are placed inside your bell tent before check-in. You walk into it, you don't set it up.
Yes. Three bell tents on a quiet meadow, no children and no dogs. It's as quiet as glamping in the UK gets.
Each bell tent has its own firepit, its own BBQ and generous spacing from the others. There's no on-site reception or staff bothering you — once you're in, you're in.
The wood-burning stove is a feature in its own right. A wet evening with a fire crackling through canvas is exactly what you came for.
Check-in is from 1pm. We offer an Early Check-in extra (from 11am) and a Slow Morning (late check-out to noon) so the day feels longer.
